My fav local band but you might never heard of - Dewangga Sakti [DS] - used to get invitations by the Alliance Francaise [AF] to perform Zapin and gambus. Well music is a universal language, so it wasn’t any fuss I guess, for the Frenchmen to understand Ala Canggung?
I want to introduce AF - not DS this time - and not as another counterpart of British Council etc, but more as our honourable Guest whom should be applauded for bringing France to our city, and I must say they are so active in many aspects of cultural xtvties. Nevermind if you “j'ai mis parle du français!”, just try to take a peek of a house in Lorong Gurney in time you are in need of a rejuvenating alternative entertainment incl free wayang!
